The climate and soils that make the Swan Valley an ideal canvas for viticulture and great winemaking, also make it ideal for other growers. Once the hub of the dried fruit industry, it still grows table grapes, nuts, olives, fruit and veggies. Pop-up stalls, with just picked produce and local honey, still dot the roadside.

The growers in turn attract the makers – the chefs and cooks, cheese and chocolate makers, brewers and distillers. The region’s creative energy is on display everywhere you look. The 32-kilometre scenic drive encircling the Valley encompasses more than 150 places to eat and drink including relaxed winery cafes, shady picnic lawns, busy breweries and fine dining.

The region is also home to renowned art galleries, outdoor adventure experiences, cycle trails and various family friendly activities including a wildlife park. Bundle all this with the Swan River winding its way through the landscape and the beautiful backdrop of the Darling Ranges and it’s no wonder it is a regular destination for Perth locals who have it as their rural “backyard”, and a must for visitors from further afield.
